Posted by Sina in : Daily , add a commentI just realized something about the US military. First, the US military still drafts soldiers. Second, only poor people are drafted. Awesome!!
"Wait, wait, what draft?" you ask. "Sina, everyone knows that the US military is strictly voluntary. Even if there were a draft, it wouldn’t target different classes. We’re talking about the land of equal opportunity here."
Oh really?
It’s quite clever, I must say. Let me explain how you create an invisible draft that targets the poor.
It’s a fool-proof method really. Here’s the recipe:
1) Tell everyone that the only way to be successful in life is to get a good education.
2) Make education very very very very expensive. How? Easy, don’t fund it.
3) Send military recruiters to poor neighbourhoods.
4) Tell young boys in those neighbourhoods that the only way they’ll ever be able to afford to go to university is to join the army and have their tuition paid for.
Done! You now have a drafted military that targets the poor! Why would little Tommy from Connecticut join the armed forces if daddy’s paying for school? Oh Uncle Sam would be so proud. I know I am. I love that place!!
